Quinton Cutler to Perform in Mount Union Play

2012 Oct 26

Quinton Cutler of Uniontown, OH, is a cast member in Servant of Two Masters on November 15-18 in the Rodman Playhouse on the University Mount Union's campus. Show times are 8 p.m. November 15-17 and 2 p.m. November 18.

Cutler is a freshman undecided major and will perform as a band member.

Servant of Two Masters is written as a Commedia del'Arte, a fast-paced, loosely structured style of comedic theatre that features over the top physical comedy. It tells the story of Truffaldino (a Harlequin clown) and his quest to serve as a "gentleman" to two masters. Along the way, he runs into a doctor spouting phony Latin, a miserly father more concerned with money than his daughter's happiness and a giant bowl of spaghetti. Although this story is set in the 17th century, Mount Union's production will include dashes of contemporary life, including high-top sneakers, a live band and cell phones. The use of Commedia masks provide exaggerated expressions and force the performers to maintain a strong physical presence, speaking as much with their bodies as their voices.

The Rodman Playhouse is located on the corner of Simpson Street and Union Avenue on Mount Union's campus. Tickets are $8 for general admission and $7 for senior citizens. Tickets are complimentary for Mount Union faculty, staff and students. For more information or to order tickets, call (330) 823-3860.
