Shelby's Brumenschenkel Part of Hurricane Relief Efforts at Mount Union

Rachel Brumenschenkel of Shelby, Ohio volunteered as part of "Raider Aid: Operation Purple." Student volunteers from the University of Mount Union collected donations at 16 businesses throughout the city of Alliance to benefit people affected by hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

On Friday, September 15 alone, Raider Aid raised over $5,000 to be donated to the American Red Cross. Twelve students planned the event in less than two weeks by working with the Regula Center of Public Service and Civic Engagement.

The day concluded with an on-campus rally to encourage student donations. The rally included food trucks and raffles.
